If you're in the market for a luxury home near Sacramento, El Dorado Hills should be a serious consideration. Learn more about this area below.

Gold Rush History

Like many communities in the greater Sacramento area, El Dorado Hills owes its formation to the mid 19th century California Gold Rush. Gold washed down the South Fork of the American River into the area now known as El Dorado Hills. Campers set up here to sift it, eventually being supplanted into farmland as camping settlements transformed into ranches.

Modern day El Dorado Hills is methodically designed into residential and commercial areas, taking shape in the early 1960's. Alan Lindsey began to develop it as a master planned community, envisioning a group of residential 'villages' situated strategically around commercial, public, and educational centers.

Community Amenities

In 1995, the Parker Development Company acquired 3,500 acres along El Dorado Hills' eastern boundary. The once empty tract of land became Serrano - one of the largest master planned communities in Northern California.

By 2000, population and commercial growth took off and development started on the Town Center Zone. This became a true downtown business area and local business parks experienced increasing levels of occupancy.

Today, the neighborhood stands a thriving residential and commercial area that attracts new residents from diverse places. This area includes a business park, golf course, public parks, first rate schools, large shopping centers, and small commercial spaces within each village. Above all, the plan emphasized plenty of outdoor space and plentiful recreational opportunities.
